G15 Keyboard UK Layout

The backlit keys are a godsend for gaming in dark rooms, and the LCD screen is cool as hell.

People have already started writing plugins for the LCD, one of which I installed. It is a really handy little program that uses the LCD to display what Teamspeak channel you are in and who is talking.

The media keys do work with Winamp, and the LCD does display ID3 v1 and v2 tags.

Another nifty little feature that Logitech added was on the display option that shows CPU utilization and memory usage, the CPU bar graph is actually split in two for dual processor machines. My Athlon 64 X2 4800 shows both CPU utilizations, and it is cool that Logitech had the forsight to code in dual CPU utilization.

The tactile feedback of this keyboard is fantastic. It feels solid and well constructed, and having 2 USB 2.0 ports in it is a nice feature as well.

The switch to disable the Windows key is also very nice. The macro keys are fully customizable in any program or in the native Windows environment. The macro capture feature is awesome, because it allows you to capture macros on the fly in game or what have you, and the macro capture ability also lets you capture pauses and delays in the key sequences.

All in all I'd say this is the best keyboard I have ever owned, hands down.

How can any keyboard be better than another?
Here are a few answers!
A nice LCD screen that can display system info game stats media info (just to name a few)
Dedicated media keys
Backlit keys (nothing really new there)
A nice solid feel to the keyboard!
A switch that disables the windows key so no more switching to windows deskyop halfway through a firefight to find when you have brought the game back on screen it literally game over!
18 G keys that can be customised to any macro or other button 3 times.

On the whole the best keyboard ever!

i have read reviews of the g15 highlting its good and bad points , but i do have to say its one of the best keyboards out there at the moment.
the lcd screen is a nice feature and there is alot of community applications for it ranging from simple cpu stats to irc display apps.

the programable keys are nice and since they have 3 diffrent modes you can have up mutliple shortcuts or macros on the keys with out worrying about erasing the current one.

the two usb ports are nice and the back lite keys are a god send especially if i am playing a game like doom 3 or counter stike in the dark .

id have to say out of all the keyboards i've had this one is my favorate its worth every penny, its a good solid construction and the drivers work with vista pretty fine so far.

in games its nice to have shortcuts for things like invetory or reloading with out cloging up or overcluttering the keyboard.

the overall size is pretty good as well and the feel and sound of it is pretty awsome and its a king of its class.

id recomend the g15 for any gamer or to anyone looking to buy a good sturdy keyboard.

First of all this keyboard isn't huge, it's the much smaller version 2 of the G15 which is only slightly larger than a standard keyboard. Downside is you lose 12 of the programmable G keys and have a much smaller LCD screen and no volume wheel.

Now the reason I got it was for work to automate a lot of godawfully mundane file re-naming tasks but the first day I had it I took it home and used it with Age of Conan. AoC uses a combo based combat system and this keyboard lets you record these keystrokes so next time you want to pull off an attack you only have to hit a single key instead of a series of keys. Lazy, yes, but so far not considered cheating.

Thing is, I now use a version 1 G15, which I got from my nephew, at home and have this one at work, where it does do a really good job at what I originally intended. The trouble is, having used the version 1 keyboard, the version 2 seems lacklustre in comparison for games.

Unfortunately the version 1 is out of production so the version 2 is all you've got and if I'd never seen the original I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Be aware that use of macros is considered cheating in a lot of online games so check to see if you can use this keyboard with your game of choice before splashing out.

Also it's also fair to point out that the free software package called Autohotkey will let you do pretty much everything this keyboard can and a lot more besides but can be a lot harder to set-up.

i think *just* selling it as a gaming keyboard is under selling it. I bought it because of the screen, light up keys and the macro function. As someone who uses design packages it provides a great way to simplify commands and really speeds up the proccess - for example, i have one key set to put files in dreamweaver, with a save file button next to it. Whilst these are'nt massively complicated in the first place the fact that you only have to press two buttons makes life much easier and performance much quicker as u dont have to move your mouse from A to B over and over. The screen also as standard displays media information, CPU & RAM performance, email status etc and as the other reviewer pointed out, has a lot of mods available for it, and the luminated keys seal the deal. All in all a great keyboard that covers a lot of uses superbly
