If you’ve been concerned that the new generation of consoles has had relatively little in the way of new ideas, then LittleBigPlanet should be the game to restore you faith. It’s difficult to describe properly, which is a good thing, because it means it’s very different from the norm.
 Peculiar machines like this are the norm in LittleBigPlanet |  Although combat is a minor part of the game, there are some huge bosses |  Creating your own levels from scratch is as easy as playing them |  Objects can be made out of anything from wood to sponge, metal, and felt | Amazing graphics bring the world of the main character, known as Sackboy, and his fabric-coated pals to life with realistic physics and a stunning level of detail. Played with friends it’s a great puzzle adventure, as you co-operate and compete across each level. The game’s trump card though is its customisation, not just the characters themselves but the whole game. It’s extremely easy to create your own levels, and the best fun is had simply setting up areas for mucking around and then sharing them online with other people. Key Features - Unreal reality: There’s never been a game that looks like this, with ultra cute characters but realistically modelled physics and materials from wood to sponge.
- Co-op fun: Co-operate with up to three friends, as you run, jump, and swing around each level and overcome the cunning puzzles and dangerous enemies.
- Everything changes: Every single element of the game is fully customisable from your player character to each of the levels and all of the objects within them.
- Mad scientist: Create your own unique levels and change the properties of any objects to make Sackboy mincing traps or huge machines that can move whole levels.

About the Developer: Media Molecule
After working on games such as Black & White and Fable, a group of ex-Lionhead Studios employees formed Media Molecule. The Guildford-based studio rose to frame through the independently produced Rag Doll Kung Fu, but their first retail game is LittleBigPlanet.

I'm not going to go into too much detail in this review as there's already 193 others on here, so I'm just going to add to the praise as this game is fantastic.
Growing up with 2D platformers like Super Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog, this game is perfect for me as it really captures the feel and style of all of those classic games and adds a new and refreshing touch to it, thanks to the gorgeous HD graphics and excellent soundtrack, and is just pure platforming fun.
Being able to design your own levels exactly how you want them too is a great feature offering hours of extra enjoyment alongside the main story mode and being able to play other people's levels over PSN means that this game is literally endless.
Overall this is an essential purchase for the PS3 and is without a doubt the best 2D platform game since the 16-bit days!

I've never written a review on amazon, but after playing this game during the beta i felt compelled to tell people just how brilliant this game is.
First off you have the story mode, in this its like the normal single player type of game, its ingenius and fun to play, for the first time my girlfriend played with me and she hates game but loved this, its simple and just a great laugh, first customising your sackboy/girl and then playing the levels together, its cute, friendly and everyone can play.
The story mode could be sold on its own as its probably better than most games out but its probably less than half of what makes LBP Great.
After playing through most levels you can start creating your own, now i've played many games you can edit levels and i've been left confused mostly and stopped after 5 minutes, but steven fry's tutorials last around 30 minutes and after this your pretty much sorted! i created my own level after an hour or so which my girlfriend played and told me it was too hard and there wasn't enough colours a "womans touch" she said and even she wants to make one. After you've created the level you can publish it online and get other people to rate it and see what they think.
All in all this game is superb the story mode alone deserves a 10/10 but with the online mode which lets you play other peoples levels whenever you want and you don't even need to play them online so no lag or random online people slapping you it makes an endless supply of content!
I was worried it would be quite simple games as its basically a platformer but this was squashed after i saw people making large complex systems, rockets, cars, traps, calcuators, protecting a box, sonic, boss battles, Mario, metal gear solid and grand theft auto levels it'll be hard to get bored!
I hadn't preordered this game but now i have, this game is perfect for anyone girls guys kids adults, you need this game, if any parents are reading this looking for ideas this is the game! its recieving perfect scores all round and is the only game that seems not for the Wii and that isn't a shooter!

Have been playing this for almost a week now and it's still excellent.
The controls do take a little getting used to as everything, including sackboy, obeys a certain level of physics. Once you've got used to his momentum when jumping around the game just gets better and better.
Inventive gameplay, fun multiplayer (I've tried it off and on-line and it's amazing!) and some excellent levels included on the disc - plus all that user generated content to come!
If you haven't got it by now, you really should go and buy it straight away!

The only game you will play and be amazed at how simple concepts, are the most fun - the levels created will not only inspire you but when it comes to creating your own stage there is a wierd revelation that this is what has been missing. this is what every one and their mama has wanted to do since the birth of gaming which is create and share their game ideas.
the levels you can create are endless and you can download other levels created by other LBP players. They can also join in and you can have up to 4 players thrashing about on a level.
this game has everything ,charm, replayability, continous downloadable content, great graphics, funky music,intuitive controls
you can keep it simple and just collect and play the user created levels or mangle your brain and produce a level worthy of media molecule themselves. You may only be able to run, jump and grab but the design of some the levels is absolutely amazing.
trust me once you've started creating a level you will be thinking of devious new ways to improve your level throughout your working day. ESSENTIAL
WARNING THIS GAMES WILL NOT SUIT THOSE WITH NO IMAGINATION
Buy it Try it Love it.

Got this game on the day of release and I was so very excited by the potential of it.
From the lovely introduction which goes on about imagination, voiced by the genius that is Stephen Fry, you are guided by the almighty Fry as to how to do all and sundry within the game.
Even as a simple platform game, it works wonderfully and is a joy to behold with everything made out of craft materials.
Online play is a dream. Co-operation leads to fun rewards (hard to get costumes for Sackboy, stickers, objects) and being able to do silly things like making Sackboy dance for the entertainment of others, or giving someone a good smack in the chops for being so smug, all is a massive plus.
The other online aspect of being able to create and publish levels of your own is truly genius though as is being able to play the creations of others. Some people out there have been really very creative.
Occasionally the servers have gone down, but this is becoming rarer and rarer, so lets not worry about that.
More people should own this game now!
