Nintendo DS Lite is a lighter and brighter version of the highly successful Nintendo DS, which has sold more than 4 million units across Europe and 16 milllion units worldwide.
Nintendo's latest console includes all the existing features of the Nintendo DS, yet includes a variety of distinctive changes which truly sets it apart from other handheld consoles. The redesign isn't only cosmetic though, the Nintendo DS Lite features adjustable screen brightness with four settings, a repositioned microphone for ease of use and a larger and more comfortable stylus. This is a wonderful machine; bought as my son's first good games console. Until now he has been using my husband's old Game Boy, with poky back and white screen and no backlight.
I agonised for ages about whether to spend the extra £50 on a DSi; I'm SO glad I didn't. The DS is absolutely perfect; the red glossy finish on ours looks great, it is incredibly easy to use, and I certainly don't want my 6 year old having a relatively unmonitored internet connection as with DSi. The cameras on DSi are fun, but of no use for real photography, and really a bit of a gimmick. I was tempted by the nice menu etc, but the DS menu is simple, clear, and very child-friendly.
There is an added advantage that he will be able to play GBA games from his cousins and friends, as well.
Overall, this is a superb entry-level games console, looks brilliant, is fantastically easy to use, yet supports a huge collection of games to suit all ages and tastes. I'd recommend it to any child, and for parents buying for Christmas, I'd advise it over the DSi; spend the extra £50 on some great games.

This is the 2nd DS lite in the house, my daughter's was played so much by my son we got him one.They are 7 and 5, and play Mario Kart DS endlessly!
The unit is robust, no performance issues and charges last a long time.
It's only a question of moderating how long they play, as you can easily lose your children for hours! Down to the parent whether that's good or bad..

Having great fun being a DS Owner. Have found it very useful when travelling. Being over 50, I like crosswords, scrabble, 100 Classic books etc. Great way of having loads to do but taking up a small amount of space in your hand luggage.

This new colour is a fabulous bright, shiny red and looks great. Was worried the colour may be a bit orangey or pinkish but it's not at all. It looks sleek, glossy and cool.
This is easy to use, light to carry and the fully charged battery lasts for around 16 hours when set on low screen brightness. The two screens are really handy as it saves flipping back and forth between modes as in some GBA games or adds extra elements in others. The touch screen is fun and adds an extra dimension to game-play over the gameboy advance.
The wi-fi connectivity allows game play with friends and connection to the internet to play with other Nintendo gamers. There is a calendar, a clock and an alarm. It has built in stereo speakers and a microphone socket. Overall I think it is excellent value for money (these days) and great fun to use.

With the release of the brand new DS Lite's, I had to buy myself a white one because it was so sleek and gorgeous! I purchased with it together with Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training and was hooked on the console ever since!
Now with the release of some very sophisticated games, the console is only perfected with the ever increasing use of it's features - including the microphone, and dual LCD screens, not forgetting its single most important touch screen!
And just when you thought it couldn't get any better, Nintendo release this amazing assortment of DS colours, to add a bit of style and originality to your gaming experience!
Ultimately, I had to trade in my old white DS for a brand new spanking red one and I must say it is a very beautiful, deep colour! Well worth the extra money!
Consoles were never a thing I intended myself to become interested in, and this little handheld has changed that! I cannot honestly articulate how comprehensive this number is and I'm sure that there are only better things to come of it.
I recommend it to anyone, of any age, and I ask of you to sincerely consider purchasing this product if you fancy something that's lightweight, fits perfectly in your bag and can keep you entertained on those long business trips, holidays abroad, and cosy, relaxing nights in.
