5 out of 5 stars GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT   January 29, 2009

Ok then, i dont usually write reviews as i dont hav the time but i am one of the people who use the reviews to help me decide whether or nt i would enjoy this game, and tht is the reason i am writting here.

The reviews on here already, written by TRUEBLUE93 and MIKE NEWMAN are very misinformed, i understand that they believe they are helping and when they get it right i am grateful, but criterion have brought out this upgraded edition of the already amazing game burnout paradise for 2 very good reasons, an they are:-

1. To allow those who dont have an internet connect to enjoy the FREE DLC (downloadable content) packs they have given us (trophies, day and night cycles, and of course the bike pack)

2. To give new players access to all this great content from the moment you open the packaging

BUT they are also, which is where the previously mentioned reviewers are very wrong, they will be including the new FREE update which has:-

>new vehicle dynamics (making some easier for begginners to handle)
>more vibrant visuals
>stuntrun timer changes(you have more time given between stunts)
>road rage changes ( you will no longer get time added for takedowns after the target number is reached)
>Events are being rebalanced in anticipation for the upcomming booast car pack (release date TBA)
>There will now be an ingame store added as well, so you can purchase/download the content you want without having to leave paradise city.
>And the much requested feature that many of us have missed the ability to RESTART an event if you go wrong.

Now if that wasnt enough for you they have also, an this was my main point when i said the other 2 previously mentioned reviewers were wrong, will be including the PREMIUM CONTENT the PARTY PACK allowing you 2 enjoy the 8 player offline mode straight out of the box.

i hope this has help clear up any confusion, an would ask that if you want to write a review please check your facts before writting as someone who reads the reviews to help decide on my purchase it is important.

finally for anyone sitting on the fence about this game BUY IT, criterion have gone out of their way to deliver the best burnout experience they could and they have more than achieved it, the game is over a year old now and they are still bringing us the best in free and paid for DLC.

5 out of 5 stars Paradise aint a bad place to be   November 22, 2009

Burnout Paradise Hmmm! I am a big fan of the series and have played them all. Burnout comes to the new gen with a complete makeover. I hated it. I tossed it a side for months on end. In the end I gave up and now except the game for what it is. In fact, once you get over the fact that good old Burnout is dead and buried, this, after a while gets enjoyable.

I miss the structure of the old Burnout. Trying to win gold medals, the crash mode, the takedowns, the revenge. You get hints of it in this game but it is a new style of play.

Here we have a single city, Paradise City, where Guns and Roses play their song on every street corner. You are free to explore this city. Stop at traffic lights and you can enter the event tied to it. That is about it really. Oh, you can ram bill boards and stuff whilst you drive about the city looking for eh, traffic lights.

The events are fun and similar to old Burnout at times. You can do takedowns but this is not the purpose of the game. There is no purpose other than to build up your license and car collection. You can however race on bikes for a change.

Once you come to accept the laizze fare style gaming which is similar in style to the likes of Test Drive and Need For Speed, the game can be good fun at times. One issue I have is that it is difficult to work out where to go. In most games you get a GPS which gives arrows to point you in the right direction. Not here. You get an icon on your compass and you have to find your own way. You need to keep steering in the direction whilst looking for shortcuts and turns. At speed it is not easy. You will lose races because of this. If you get lost, simply stop and the event ends and then find another set of traffic lights. Keep an eye on your distance to target, if it goes up, your going the wrong way!

There is no doubt this is a quality game. Graphics, arcade handling, sound effects, soundtrack are all excellent. Despite the game getting repetative the city is big and it is worth shooting off to another location for a change.

The on-line is quite innovative. A click of a button and you are on-line. It is a duplication of the single player experience except there are human players.

Overall, I would have preferred another traditional style Burnout but this will have to do. I don't like the structure (or lack of it) but it will have to do. It is still a well made arcade racer though.

5 out of 5 stars Burnout IS Paradise!   March 19, 2009

I recently purchased this game in the Ultimate Box version after downloading and playing with the demo.

This is a simply excellent game that has the balance of driving/fun/violence just right. I am only part way into the game but just know it is a game with legs. It is quite clear that Criterion have created a game to be proud of and they are supporting it's development with add ons and improvements.

Review-

Visuals: The look of this game is superb, the design of the city and environs is clearly a well laid out and thoughtful piece of graphic clarity. The changing time brings a change in lighting which can be really impressive. I will sometimes stop get out the car and look around.

Sound: I have this plugged into my surround amplifier with output as DTS from PS3 - one word, awesome. The growl and grunt from the engines, the squeal of tyres, the crunch and grind as steel clashes with steel, concrete, wood or tarmac all in beautiful surround sound, great stuff.

Playability: Perfectly balanced races, stunt runs marked man and road rage events. Places to explore, try new things. Crashes are brilliantly recreated with no increase in insurance premiums. This is a game that you can fire up for a few minutes fun then find a couple of hours have passed!

Conclusion: If you haven't yet bought this game, click on the purchase button, I promise you won't regret it.

I'm a 60 year old geezer. What can I say about a PS3 car game. It's cool; it's fun.
