Great looks, poorly programmed, very repetitive. March 21, 2010 S. Neirinck (Belgium) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The game is great looking if you have the pc to go with it, but playing the dx10 version makes your game crash every hour or so because of some kind of memory leak.
The other problem is that the game feels very repetitive and even though your playing in a big world, it doesn't really feel that big.
Great gameworld, shallow gameplay April 22, 2010 Karsten Rohweder (Tübingen) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a difficult game to review: the production values are "through the roof", the graphics are excellent, the game world, an idealized version of an African state, is beautifully designed and rendered. The game interface is excellent: almost no HUD elements distract from the game, things like a map or healing items are represented in the game scene itself.
However, playing the game itself feels somewhat... shallow. There's no way of interacting with the gameworld's inhabitants instead of shooting them. Constantly and repeatedly. There are no civilians, and except for the "buddies", every character is an enemy. As a minor niggle, the shooting experience itself is inferior and unrealistic. Bullets travel in a straight line and instantaneous - this takes away all the challenge from sniping, and feels like a step back after playing titles such as STALKER or ArmA.
As a last note, the "feeling" of the original Far Cry has been captured and re-created surprisingly well. The graphics style and rendering techniques are very alike, and the gunplay, the wide open spaces and vehicle handling all harken back to the first game.
love it January 20, 2010 Kas (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've given it 5 stars because I loved Far Cry 2. It's fun, got lots of the actions, has got brill locations and you can explore whole game board. Good entertainment for sure!!!
you must buy this game January 22, 2010 S. C. Foale (stafford england) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Having read all the reveiws I was a bit wary of buying when it arrived it was completely blown away .I have been a FPS fan for many years but his is something special you get to interact with the whole envirement which is seemingly unending. There are no pauses as you move about as ther are in Half Life 2.As a bonus there is a map editor that allows you to give the game endless possibilities and ifinite playability (check out the farcry website for details). If you only buy one game get this and at this price you cant fail.
