Product Description
August DA110BD is a multi-functional personal entertainment centre. It is LCD TV, digital Freeview TV receiver, digital radio receiver, high quality tablet DVD player with slot-in disc loader, media player from SD/MS/MMC memory cards and from an external hard disc via USB port, digital photo displayer and widescreen (16:9) high resolution monitor (800x480 pixels) for other media player or a game console. With stylish state-of-the-art design, outstanding picture and sound quality and user friendly features. It becomes an ideal TV and media player for kitchen, bedroom, caravan, boat and travelers.

It can also be connected to a larger screen to output TV, video and digital photos to your home TV.

This model has been voted Top 3 Small Screen TV by Channel 4, is an award winning Portable TV/DVD Player of What Hi-Fi Magazine Sound and Vision Magazine and recommended by ERT Weekly Magazine.

Please note that there may be difficulty to receive Freeview TV signal by the included portable antenna in some areas where the signal is not sufficiently strong at present. This is due to that the Freeview service (freeview.co.uk) in the UK is yet full power broadcasting to support portable TV antenna at present. The reception will be improving along with the progress of Digital Switchover Program (digitalUK.co.uk). A signal amplifier or booster may improve reception capability in regions where the signal is marginally strong. (Please note that reception capability may also be affected by various factors such as proximity to Freeview TV/digital radio transmitters, tall building structures, thick walls, ceilings and etc.). A rooftop TV aerial may be required to watch Freeview channels in regions where the signal is insufficient for a portable antenna.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic picture quality for such a little unit   March 5, 2008

This is great unit for the money, the picture quality is unbelievably good. I did struggle to get the freeview channels on the indoor aerial but once connected to the house aerial there was no problem at all. The only thing I would say against it is that if you want to play music DVD's the sound is a little "tinny" and you may be disappointed but as a tv and dvd (film) player it is brilliant. Not only that it looks good too.

5 out of 5 stars Caravaner   January 15, 2009

I was immediately impressed by the build quality. The stand is very well designed and made. Everything functions as it should given good signal quality. The scrolling text on the EPG is a slight annoyance. Sound is acceptable for the speaker size and has no quality adjustment (apart from volume of course). A scart connector would have nice to have. The size, weight and portability (using its excellent carry bag) make it perfect for caravan use and its low current consumption of about 1.7 amps makes it ideal for those sites which have no mains hook-up.
I am extremely pleased with this value-for-money product.

5 out of 5 stars Love it!   December 1, 2007

I picked this Freeview TV and DVD player after a massive search, it has got quite a number of unique features, which convinced me to go for it, and I am really pleased my choice is right. It has analogue and Freeview tuner built-in, I can get perfect Freeview TVs in my bedroom upstairs using the small antenna supplied, although downstairs in my kitchen the picture is a little bit fuzzy and I have to use the rooftop aerial. The picture quality is brilliant, so does the sound. The multiregion feature plays discs we brought back from States. The TV also has card reader and USB port, so I can view my photos on the TV without my computer. This is a brilliant all-in-one device, and I am really pleased with it.

5 out of 5 stars does what is says on the box   March 14, 2009

Bought this from Amazon 3 weeks ago, it does what it says on the box. I,ve got mine running with a 12v FREESAT reciever box and Sky dish via the tv sets AV connector and converter cable (3 into 1....which comes supplied), Plays ANY format DVD nativley and its looks are conservative compared to some other geeky looking sets. The TV build quality is very good but the remote is cheapo but capable and sound is tinny but suitable, best to add speakers in a large room.It gets excellent mag reviews and i can see why, its price, quality and adaptability are its core strengths and i recommend it.

5 out of 5 stars A Traveller's Dream TV, Good For Portable Gaming Too.   November 2, 2009

I think everything about this TV has already been explained by the previous reviews.

The screen is excellent. The sound is 'passable', which is pretty much expected (or atleast I was expecting it to be on small devices like this one), but plug in a decent pair of headphones or a decent set of speakers and everything changes for the oh-so-better, especially if you have a big room and enjoy having a good sound experience but dont mind how close you sit to the screen.

11 inch sounds small for a screen, but its surprisingly larger than you may think. At 16:9 ratio widescreen, it makes it feel bigger that it looks. And the picture quality is hard to beat, truly fantastic compared to screens found on the big TVs these days.

The plethora of connections make this TV a multimedia centre. Line in cables for speakers and headphones. USB connections for flash drives and external hard drives which can then play AVI and, I believe but havent confirmed, WMV files. AV In/Out to connect DVD players or video cameras to it as well as gaming consoles such as PS3s and Xbox 360s, and you can therefore also connect this TV to a larger TV, effectively turning this TV into a DVD player for bigger TVs.

Now, the main purpose of my purchase for this TV was its AV input and screen size for portability. Travelling around alot and being in countries where the Hotels or accommodation have, frankly, rubbish TV as its mainly local stuff and in the local language etc, I wanted to take my own entertainment with me.

So, my Playstation 3 goes everywhere with me, though I would recommend getting the PS3 Slim for travelling as it makes it easier when adding up weight limits for flights, though I'd recommend taking it on as hand luggage if you can find a bag that it will fit into (the PS3 that is). The TV itself is less than 2kg so that can fit fairly nicely into your luggage to be checked in as long as your wrap it up securely and pack it smartly.

The PS3 works on this TV, as does the Xbox 360. Yes its an 11 inch screen, but when its right infront of you at a desk and you have your headphones plugged in, you dont notice its' size. Its perfectly usable.

The AV cable supplied with both consoles can be plugged into the TV with an adaptor that comes with the TV, so dont worry about getting a seperate adaptor.

If you want to get an idea of how big the screen is, watch an HD video on youtube without selecting fullscreen. The screen is about 2 or 3cm bigger than that, maybe more (its not with me at the moment so im roughly guessing, it could be even more than that).
Watch a gameplay video of some kind and youll see that the screen size truly is acceptable for gaming away from home. Obviously its not the full HD experience on a 30-40 inch TV on the wall, but when youre travelling and fancy a few hours on your PS3 or 360, its a godsend. Plug your headphones in and the sound is perfectly acceptable like it is from an iPod with a decent set of headphones. And you really cant complain when youre abroad and using your PS3 or 360 at a hotel or wherever and you have time to kill.

Havent tried the channels yet as I didnt buy it for that reason, but I believe theyre extremely easy to tune into and give more than your standard TV at home unless youre on a package like Sky etc.

Extremely recommended TV for anyone travelling. You can buy a carrier bag seperately, as well as a car seat strap to strap it to a headrest for people travelling in the back of your car, like your kids etc or anyone on a long journey.

Well built, great screen, great multi-functionality. Cant say anymore really.
