Product Description The Humax Freesat HD Digital Box is a premium HD Satellite receiver suitable Freesat satellite service. As the premium model, it provides better picture, sound and EPG menu over and above the lower priced receivers. The Freesat platform uses the same satellite setup as BSkyB, so if you already have a dish that was for Sky available you just need to purchase a Freesat Digital Box. The unit is feature rich and can be summarised as below;

Capable of receiving both HD and SD channels, HD transmissions are free on Freesat. Freesat Fantastic October 24, 2008 Nigel Harrison (NYC) 96 out of 97 found this review helpful
Just set this up and it was running in under fifteen minutes. This is a cable and SKY killer and well worth the investment. Will work with pre-existing satellite dish and doesn't require the extra investment of 'HD dish' installation as suggested by salesperson.
Dump Sky Now!!!!!!!!!! February 7, 2009 Jukeboxjohnnie (UK) 35 out of 35 found this review helpful
I was desparate for an alternative to the Evil Sky organisation and following advice off Amazon reviewers purchased a Humax Foxsat HD box, it's so easy, just unplug cables from your Sky box, smash the sky box up with a large hammer, plug them in the Foxsat box and youre off. I've got 143 channels and I'm paying NOTHING for them! Fantastic! Unless you have to have premium Sport channels, you are wasting your money by not buying one of these now, Freesat is being run at a loss by BBC and Independant channels, they have to provide it under the terms of Digital switchover and it's the bargain of the moment. Can't wait to run another cable off my LNB and have 'Multiroom' at no cost at all. Even if you need a dish installed, it's still a better option than freeview which frequently breaks up and is disappointing. This is the best route to Digital TV by a mile!
you don't need to buy an hdmi cable with this unit October 19, 2008 amir m (glasgow, scotland) 106 out of 108 found this review helpful
this is probably the best freesat box available at the moment. just to clarify one thing. this unit comes with an hdmi cable. check out the manufacturer's site for full details under "support" and then "accessories" for confirmation.
Great Unit - limited choice of channels August 25, 2008 Mr. R. Thorp (Scotland) 147 out of 152 found this review helpful
Bought this great little box a couple of months ago and it does everything it says. The greens and reds are a bit vivid for me but the picture is faultless and the sound is something else using the HDMI lead (which had to be bought separate). The only problem is your limited to the number of channels you can watch. Its all very well saying there's 91, but most of them are "regional" channels showing the same program. Set-up is simplicity its self with the only question it asks is to enter your postcode. Don't forget to get the "update" after installing it. I have put mine back in its box for now and returned to "normal" SKY but only for more viewing choice.
However, if tempted I don't want to put you of and to help you save money, if you have SKY you don't need a satellite dish, just unplug your SKY unit, pop in your HD unit and connect up, the same satellite sends both signals. There, that's saved you £80 so that's another reason to consider one.. Amazon, delivery as good as ever - five stars for unit and delivery.
Good Freesat box January 22, 2009 kcampbel (UK) 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
Overall I am satisfied with this unit and it does what it says it should. I can't be anymore excited than that because I dont want another box and another remote cluttering my room, but hey if you can only get a few Freeview channels then FreeSat is the only option.
I am impressed with Freesat and the number of channels etc but that should be left for a different review.
In terms of picture quality I have found it good and channel by channel it to be better than the limited number of F/view channels I have. Moving to HDMI is also great cause I loathe scart cables. The number of cable options at the back of the unit are bewilildering.
Upsides
Picture quality
Compact unit
Numerous connection options
Good sound
Comes with HDMI lead
Downsides for me:
Takes 30-40 secs to boot up.
Switching the guide on loses the audio for 30 secs.
Overall I may not sound ecstatic but the proof is I will be purchasing another unit for the bedroom tv unless Panasonic/LG come up with a 22" TV with built in Freesat.
