Excellent product, very easy to install and to use. Upscaling works a treat. As good as Sky HD.
Runs very quiet with 250Gb Hard drive. Thomson Sky HD unit I tried was extremely noisy with only 160 GB's.
This unit is for me the better option for viewing 1080P images.

I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago. Overall impressed with it. Very easy to install. Huge HDD. Very easy to dub to DVD. Very impressed that it could copy my ancient VHS tapes. Now have them on DVD - brilliant. Superb viewing quality when watching DVD films. Quality of off air recording is OK.
The programme guide however is only really designed for setting up recordings, so not ideal as a digibox replacement (as per previous review). When using programme guide to set up recordings it seems to miss the first second or so of the start of the recording. I thought it would be linked in to the broadcast times!
When you set it up to record a programme and then put in standy mode, the fan makes quite a lot of noise. Thankfully this only happens in timer record mode. Also there's no facility to check how full the HDD drive is - a little pie chart (Windows XP) would have been useful. Oh and the instruction manual is like a novel! But as a VHS replacement it's light year's ahead of that technology!

Had read all the reviews of this DVD recorder before purchase and hence knew its pros & cons, but after using it for about 2 months now its pros of SD TV recorded picture quality, 1080P upscaling of DVDs, ease of use, etc. far outway the identified cons (lack of USB input/DL recording). Its a pity that the EPG is different in appearance from my new Toshiba LCD TV (40ZF355D) and that transfer to the DVD recorder input via the Regza link takes so long (many screen flashes as the recorder prepares for the output) but overall am very pleased with the recorder and thoroughly recommend it.
