A Excellent and Cool player November 18, 2008 Ed Hammond (Berkshire) 42 out of 42 found this review helpful
First of all the free region setting from the box makes my life easy unlike my old branded ones. It plays Divx Cds and has got ports of USB & Card reader so various of media files stored on CD, USB stick, MMC cards etc can be played thru this. Picture quality is crystal clear with good definition of colors.Color Combination of Piano-Black on the screen part and silver on the bottom looks attractive along with swivel screen. This is definitely a good value for money and highly recommended.
Excellent Value for the money December 19, 2008 Jonny J (Kingston, Surrey) 27 out of 27 found this review helpful
I was a bit hesitant to choose this as there is a bad review as well as good reviews. When I opend up the box, I was impressed with the build quality, touch and color of the cabinet cases. I was surprised to find on first using it that it was set to region free from the box,how good the quality of screen was, clear and well color-defined and the amount of stuffs I can play on it, Divx/Xvid/Region 1,2 and 3 DVDs. You can play Divx/Xvid/Mpeg-4s of SD card and USB stick in much the same way. The battery is built-in the case so there is not extra sticking part for that. I think the battery lasts a solid 3 hours of film watching, which is enough for any films. An excellen player for the money
Budget Player with Good & Bad Points December 2, 2009 C. Green (Quenington, Glos, UK) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
The P902 Portable DVD Player is a mid-range product with both good and bad points.
The good points are:
1. Its reasonably priced.
2. Its lightweight, with no heavy external battery pack
3. Its simple to use.
4. Its truly multi-region, straight out of the box (no codes required)
5. Image quality is good but not spectacular.
6. Sound quality on headphones is good but again, not spectacular.
The bad points:
1. The build quality is just 'okay'. The plastic casing feels a bit cheap and the main controls are rather 'clicky' and not very responsive.
2. The operating mechanisms are quite noisy.
3. Charging the battery during playback produces interference that causes a slight background hum on the soundtrack.
4. The external speakers are small and poor quality.
5. There is no battery life meter, making it impossible to tell how much charge is left until it runs out.
Battery life is acceptable but not brilliant at approximately three hours, but for the price this is about as much as you would expect. I haven't tried playing any other media apart from DVDs on it so cannot testify to how well it works with SD Cards etc. The overall design is functional but not terribly attractive, but having the revolving screen makes it more user friendly.
How satisfied you will be with the Hyundai P902 will very much depend on what you want from the device. If you're looking for excellent build quality or stylish design then you'll be disatisfied. Equally if you're looking for fantastic sound or image quality then this isn't the player for you. If, like me, you're looking for a reasonably priced, multi-region player that's lightweight and practical then the P902 should tick most boxes. For those reasons I've awarded it four stars, but I could understand if other people gave it a lower rating overall.
Edit - 18th May 2010 - Please be aware that the Hyundai P902 I reviewed above is not the same design currently shown on the photographs on Amazon. It would appear that Hyundai have updated the design of P902; therefore some of my observations may no longer apply.
You Can Do Better June 24, 2009 Jan Verlinden (Belgium) 17 out of 18 found this review helpful
After owning a Panasonic LS90 multi-region portable player I'm afraid the Hyundai just doesn't shape up. It has a less than impressive battery life and gives you no warning before plunging itself in darkness. The biggest problem I have with this product is if you switch it off, it automatically resets itself to start from the very beginning. If I had to sum up this product with one word it would be 'annoying'.
