This is great. I have been looking for one of these for a while. I was a bit wary of getting one that seemed to be monaural (one speaker). But this produces a better than mono sound, not sure if its fully stereo but it sounds great for its size.
Volume is controlled by the device you plug it into (ie. iPod), it goes quite loud without distortion or quality loss, fairly good bass and treble (better than most).
Very good build quality (metal + polycarbonate) it uses 2 AAA batteries (24hrs apparently, lasts for ages), it also has a power on/off button, and snug carry case.

This was recommended by the gadget programme, so I was keen to try this out, as I've been looking for a compact speaker for my laptop that doesn't product loud enough sound.
Opening it in the office, everyone came over to check it out, and it certainly caught the attention of both sexes, the women love the dinkiness and compactability of the speaker, the fact that it had its own carry case which you can hook onto your bag/jacket, and it looks elegant but not cheap whilst the guys admire the sound quality and was easy to use.
It also included batteries, which saved me a trip to the shops. This is a well-designed and effective gadget and confirms that size does not matter!

I am using this device with an MP3 player and have found that the sound is clear and perfectly acceptable. I am getting a lot of use out of it.
It would be ideal for sharing your favourite music anywhere that doesn't provide access to the mains, or where it is inconvenient to carry any larger equipment (for example on holidays). It worked brilliantly at a bbq party where there was no mains access available, with more than enough volume to provide a real party atmosphere, without distorition.
It comes in a hard protective case with a metal clip and nylon wrist strap, and a mobile phone adapter. It weighs 183g without its case, 218g with it. The case really is a nice accessory to have because it is a good quality item and really does help to keep the speaker safe.
It has an on/off switch and a battery level indication light.
It takes 3 AAA batteries which last me around 20 hours. In an ideal world I would have liked to be able to recharge it via a USB cable from my computer but you cannot have everything for this price!
Finally, its packaging is well thought out and attractive, which would support its value as a really nice gift for someone with an MP3 player, Blackberry or music-playing mobile phone.
