When i bought this it said multi-region but its not. To unlock it to play all regions turn on the dvd player open the disc tray and then enter 98790. It will now change to region 0 making it able to watch all regions.

this is a good dvd at the price. however it is not multi region unless you enter a code, simply turn on, open disc tray and enter 98790 on the remote and it is then multi region.
Good player, works fine for me May 26, 2009 D. Poulet (U.K.) 31 out of 31 found this review helpful
This is my fourth Divx DVD player and I'd say it's probably the best one I've had, certainly for the price. It scans USB sticks really quickly and plays everything I've thrown at it so far, which is more than I can say for my old Philips SD-260 or the rubbish Yamada player I had since them. Looks good, works fine, cheap. You can't say fairer than that.
Does the job...really! July 14, 2009 J. E. Boyce (Nottingham, Notts United Kingdom) 114 out of 117 found this review helpful
I bought this product,Toshiba SD290EKB DVD Player in June, as a replacement for my old video/dvd player which, at a crucial moment in my life, passed on to the happy (?) hunting grounds. As I have recently retired, I was/am a little pushed on the cash front, so, bought this rather than a clever machine which does all sorts of things. D'y'know, this thing is the business. It may only be a dvd player to you matey, but it plays all the regions; it plays cd's, and cd'r/rw etc. In short, it does it all. And, it is as near plug'n'play as it gets. It is good, very good. I hope they're still making it, or something like it when this one dies.
It's lovely. Really.
And, I owe it all to Amazon who, were the cheapest in the market. And, probably, the most reliable. Honestly.
Stop niggling. December 27, 2009 FFFF (St Austell, Cornwall United Kingdom) 43 out of 44 found this review helpful
I sometimes feel that reviewers make a lot of fuss in order to show how technological they are, rather than helping other potential purchasers. This product is described as 'noisy'- it makes a reassuring faint whirr at times when loading. The display is 'minimal - well, I want to watch the DVD, not the display. It won't play in reverse @ 1x - Hands up all those who watch their DVDs backwards - I thought so. The remote is 'small' - not more so than a mobile phone, and it's very clearly laid out. And finally, it doesn't always respond to the first push of a button, which has to be repeated. My experience is that it responds perfectly if the remote is carefully aimed at the sensor - just to the right of the on/off button, in case you hadn't noticed: it's no good just waving it vaguely about.
By contrast, it is efficient, extremely simple to operate, and gives an excellent picture. If you want more than this go and buy a more expensive model; but my guess is that this is what 90% of customers really want.
