Blu-ray laptop you can't get cheaper anywhere else June 18, 2009 Adam John Kennedy (Ratingen, Germany) 21 out of 22 found this review helpful
When looking for a laptop you have to know exactly what you will be using it for as the price can vary considerably. So in my case I was looking for a laptop which I could take to work to surf the internet and when at home connect to my flat screen TV to play blu-ray discs, while keeping the cost down. I can go into great detail about specifications on laptops but to keep things simple most laptops come with 3GB or more and at least a 250GB hard drive so this is not something I need to look at closely. The important thing is the processor speed (minimum 2Ghz), graphics card (dedicated 256mb or better 512mb) and of course the blu-ray drive.
I looked at a number of laptops specifically at the graphics card, as even though I wouldn't be playing any games it would be a factor in the general running of the laptop, which made it important. Which is why I chose this laptop and I was not disapointed. I would recommend to anyone wanting a laptop, as it not only does everything I require, it also is good enough to play even the latest games at high resolution. So if you want to keep the price down and save your hard earned money, and know that you have got a bargin, look no further.
cheap and very good quality July 21, 2009 Andy (England, East Anglia) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
For the person to rate this laptop one star is completely unfair!!!!
I recieved the laptop and opened it straight away and was amazed at how nice it looked for the price.
Of course the specs of this arent gonna be top notch but for what you pay id like to see you get anything as cheap as this.
webcam is 0.3 but still provides good enough quality to my standard.
finger print reader is a gucci add on and a good one.
keyboard has a nice finish to it and button response. theres also nothing wrong at all with the integrated mouse either.
the fact this includes a blu-ray player is a fact you cant ignore. also with the hdmi out slot for the tv its was a done deal for me.
the dolby home theater produces very impressive sound quality considering its a laptop.
thought id use it for a couple of days before i rated it and i have to say i think ive got a hell of a deal!! i spent a lot of time looking around and nothing from other makes really comes close to the spec or the finshing quality of this laptop. i would fully recommend this laptop to any of my friends.
Acer 6530 June 3, 2009 Sw Harrison (United Kingdom) 20 out of 25 found this review helpful
I purchased this laptop in April 2009. From the onset the graphics performance was poor to say the least, when scrolling web pages they movement was very erratic, i.e. juddering and windows would take a long time to load. I contacted Acer customer suppport who suggested re-installing windows using the built in facility. This only made matters worse. Rather than involve Acer again I purchased an OEM copy (genuine) of vista home premium and installed that. At the same time I removed the partitions and made the hard drive into one i.e. 250GB. The laptop now exceeds my wildest expectations in all respects, and is now worthy of reccomendation.
Good if it wasnt acer. August 10, 2009 E. Harrison (UK) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
The product itself seems perfectly fine (I can't go into detail as I haven't had it for long enough to tell). However be warned this laptop ships with a lot of junk programs which will not help its performance (as mentioned in a previous review) and reinstalling the provided windows vista which is the only one the product key will work for will not remove it.
I was researching the ways I could reinstall vista to no avail. I finally rung up Acer after they'd ignored my email. The tech support on the phone told me there's no way I could reinstall the provided copy of vista without it reinstalling the junk programs with it. Short of buying a new copy of vista, for £100+, there is no way to get rid of it all.
All in all nothing wrong with the machine itself but a seriously bad company.
