Gameplay
The Professor’s Trunk
The Professor’s Trunk differs slightly from Curious Village in that there are four new features inside: “Mystery Journal”, “Unique Camera”, “Hamster”, and “Herb Tea.” These operate in a similar manner to the ‘Inn’ and ‘Painting’ sub-games from the first installment; solving puzzles often gives items for the hamster workout, a new tea ingredient, a part of the camera, or solves a lock on the Journal.
Secret mode
Inside the secret mode, there are four things: the weekly downloadable puzzles of the first game, a “mystery journal”, “Layton’s Challenges” and a bonus section. These are very similar features to the ones included in Curious Village.
Bonus materials
The bonus materials included are character profiles, audio clips, movies and soundtracks. The game also includes a password-locked bonus materials section, where codes from the first and third games can be entered to unlock further rewards.
